Beloved Students:

Greetings and blessings to each of you as you begin a new month. May you find the energy necessary for your summer journey and the peace necessary for your inner journey.

As we set our focus for this month, I notice that many of you are actually still having some issues with your personal energy. In truth, your livers are still fatigued, and you are finding that out as you move through your daily lives. I would like to suggest that as you continue your efforts to strengthen your individual livers, please dedicate the work you do to the healing and wholing of the livers of all sentient beings. Now this may sound a bit strange, but from my vantage point it is very important. The liver toxicity about which I spoke last month is not only affecting human livers, but also the livers of your pets, and even the little animals who do not share your residences. Because it is doubtful that all the squirrels in the woods will sit down for a cup of dandelion tea, when you have yours please dedicate it to these little ones. Their lives are also complicated by all the burning disruption going on in the planetary activity that fills your news media.

While I do not normally devote primary lesson space to health issues, it does seem important at this time to set you wise as to the interesting effects playing out in your lives at the present time. You can tell a fair amount about your liver condition by looking at how you face each day, how you deal with irritants cropping up unexpectedly, and by paying attention to your general mood and attitudinal swings throughout the course of your day. When you find yourself snapping at someone (whether out loud or only in your mind), this might be a good time to literally bless your liver. Put your hands over it, and with your mind send it peace and tranquility. You might also spend some time with a holistic practitioner in your area to discover just what natural agents would benefit your liver. Many of you could use cooling influences in your diet. One way to do this is to eat your food uncooked - at least for the summer.

Some of you are also experiencing feelings that seem as if you are alone in your spiritual work. While you may actually know such is not even possible, the feelings that arise (oh yes; they too are ego driven) give you no way to experience those of Us who effort to support and comfort you all along the way. As you lose liver strength, you may notice these same feelings arising toward people with whom you work, live or interface in some social way. Be very careful about just blaming them. More than likely, you are just receiving biochemical irritation from a liver that needs some support. For most of you, this is not a significant situation - it merely needs some attention.

For those of you, however, who have a history of liver issues, you must pay particular attention at this time. Don't let the toxicity rampant in the world further compromise your organs. Your spleen is likely to need support, as well. Particularly, lay off the stimulants such as caffeine and sugar, and forego those diet supplements that hype you up. Also, stay away from liquor, tobacco, and all drugs you do not absolutely need (by that I mean prescription drugs, not drugs of choice! You should run, not walk, from all "recreational" use of drugs).

Now, back to the point I made earlier about some of you feeling alone on your spiritual path. What I have been observing from my vantage point is that those of you who have an old pattern of feeling abandoned by spiritual teachers are getting a bit of a workout. This is not to say that such is happening. But the conditions are right for you to feel it is happening, should you give in to the old pattern. What happens when the pattern gets running within you is that your devotion is severely compromised. You may feel yourself going off on a "jag" of one sort or another, and it may even feel as if you have no control of yourself in the matter whatsoever. But by indulging the ego's whims, you are likely to end up losing ground, spiritually speaking. I would urge you to carefully consider whether such is prudent for you at this time. With much of the world engulfed in chaos, do you really want to play into it by unconsciously inviting it into your life and your relationships? Doing so is rather like the behavior of the alcoholic who insists his/her habit only affects him/herself. Of course, that simply cannot be true.

In like manner, whenever you lose contact with your own devotion (irrespective of what excuse comes to mind) an impact is felt by all around you. This is particularly true in your spiritual community. Because the whole community is learning more compassion, each member is becoming more sensitive, which causes her/him to feel your actions (even your attitudes) profoundly. They may not even know what they are feeling, but whenever you "desert your first love," so to speak, you deliver a knife blow to others, particularly those who may be looking to you as an example for themselves. As you can surely see, this only adds more chaos to an already chaos-laden world.

What you may actually need at this point is to take your devotion to a deeper level. Such will balance the pendulum swings of the ego and will enrich your own journey in remarkable ways. I invite you to join the group focus this month by keenly applying your focus to our lecture, The Unseen Guest, a lecture I did in Denver on June 2nd. I hope you will allow the lecture to support your emotional/ spiritual healing, renewing your devotion to your "first love."

Meditation for July

Continue sitting for 30 minutes daily to facilitate our joint work for Earth at this time. Continue your tonglin practice as here follows. There is only one major change for this month which should help you to increasingly strengthen the meditation vehicle you have been building.

Begin by sitting quietly with your eyes open, gazing at the floor some two to three feet in front of you. Follow your breath for 10 full breath cycles. If you lose track of the count, simply start over. Put your attention on your own nose, becoming aware of the subtle differences in the sensation of each breath. When you complete a cycle of 10 breaths, close your eyes, and feel yourself to be in the presence of your Spiritual Teacher. Let the feeling be held as fully as possible, as reverentially as possible. Then, ask His/Her aid in this meditation.

See yourself sitting before your Teacher. As a show of respect, see your Teacher seated higher than you. Think of some quality of the Teacher's that you would like to manifest more fully in your own life. Bow before your Teacher as a sign of respect to the Teacher and the quality you are cherishing. Be aware of your Teacher's love streaming to you, and feel deep appreciation for this gift. Now see yourself making some physical offering to your Teacher. As your Teacher receives your offering, feel a loving smile coming to you from this Precious One.

As you sit before your Teacher, ask His/Her aid in reviewing your life for the past 24 to 48 hours. Think of your most negative moment, and notice whether it was due to your thoughts, your words or your actions. Let yourself experience some genuine remorse for this, and then make a promise to your Teacher that you will not do this again for the next 24 hours. Next, think of a moment of kindness that you generated in that same period. As this memory arises, try to feel joy at your own goodness. Then, promise yourself that in the next 24 hours you will look for more opportunities to create goodness and kindness in your life.

Now ask your Teacher to stay with you for the duration of the next 24 hours. Make a place in your heart for your Teacher that is comfortable, quiet and filled with love and reverence. Visualize the Teacher descending through your Crown Chakra on an energy flow that brings the Teacher to rest on a special throne in your lotus heart. As the Teacher becomes settled there, ask Him/Her to be a witness to your life in all respects. Ask Him/Her to know your every thought, word and action. Ask Her/His help in seeing your own thoughts, words and actions, that you may continually increase the purity of your motivations.

Now, invite the Teacher to bring before you the face or name of someone who is suffering. You need not know the particular way in which this individual is suffering. When the person's name/face arises, see a dark, oily or tar-like substance in his/her aura. Recognize this thick darkness as his/her suffering. Accept that this one has been brought to you for relief. Know that you, indeed, are a vehicle of transformation. Breathe in the dark substance and drop it down into the transforming fire of the heart. As the heart fire transforms it into white or clear light, return the light for the darkness on your exhalation as a blessing.

Next, see before you an image of your family and perhaps your close friends. In like manner, breathe in the tar-like substance, the representation of their suffering, and dropping it down into your heart center for transformation, return it as a blessing of white or clear light. Begin to know yourself as an agent of transformation for your family and loved ones.

Next, see before you your community. See the dark substance interwoven in this larger collective auric field. As a service of divine love for your community, breathe in the thick, dark, substance that represents both collective and individual suffering. Try to breathe it in with virtually every pore in your body. When the heart fire has transformed it, return it as white or clear light, creating a healing, cleansing influence in this collective aura. Now, do the same visualization with your country. Breathing in the profound levels of suffering that arises from so large a field, let the fire in your heart transform that darkness into white or clear light. As you return that light, feel thankful for the opportunity to serve so many people by your meditation.

Finally, do the same visualization for your own country, and then for the entire world. Again, let yourself feel gratitude for the opportunity to render this much-needed service to Earth.

When complete, open your eyes half way and for the remaining time of your meditation, gaze upon an image of your Spiritual Teacher. Let your eyes fully take in the Teacher, recognizing His/Her image stands for the qualities you wish to manifest in your own life. With each breath, draw those qualities into yourself, receiving them as a gift from your Teacher. Appreciate your Teacher's example, as well as your own opportunity to serve Earth by meditating thus. When your time is complete, let yourself arise with royal dignity, both feeling and knowing yourself to be purified by the work you have just accomplished. Take from your meditation the recognition that you are a transformative being, who consciously activates transformation in, and for, all beings.

Walk in love, and endeavor to bring more joy, more love, more wisdom to the transformation of both your own life and the lives of others, particularly your enemies.
