Beloved Students:
Have you gotten your feet on the ground of 2009 as yet? You have been working on accomplishing that since last September, so in many ways, we are not at the point we would normally be at for entering February of a New Year. We are way ahead of the second month, even though everything indicates we are just starting the second month. What an amazing paradox for you to consider. It looks as if there will be multiple opportunities for stretching both the mind and the experience box in 2009.
What are you learning from the myriad unfolding events that seem to confront you on a daily basis? Indeed, there is (and will continue to be) plenty to learn as 2009 progresses. If it appears to you that the entire world is “out of whack,” you are on to something. The notion of “business as usual” has evaporated for the moment, and it may seem that each new day brings forth more surprises in the conventional reality.
How is it possible that the entire world can seem so disjointed and clumsy as it faces the daily challenges that continue to arise? Clearly, something fairly big is “out of balance,” and that lack of balance has all manner of business institutions stumbling and falling to their knees. It is as if the whole world has vertigo, and the spinning sensation will not stop. Thus, we must proceed with great care if we want to go forward, and each step will require mindfulness and prudence.
Our topic of focus this month is balance, and I invite you to explore it with me in the lecture I have prepared for your consideration. The title is A New Balance for a New Reality, and I hope you will study the recorded lecture with your greatest attention. In truth, you can marvel at the events that unfold, perhaps wondering what is happening, or you can scrutinize the process, as well as your place within it, and be a part of what is happening – hopefully for the good of all beings held within the parameters of global shifting.
Whenever possible, it is advisable to be a part of what is happening, rather than merely sitting on the sidelines perplexed and confused by what arises. There is an old proverb that states humanity falls into three classes: those who facilitate what is happening, those who watch what is happening and those who wonder what is happening. 2009 will offer many opportunities to engage in the process of Earth’s spiritual progress, and I do hope each of you will be proactive in both the creation of your own path and that of Earth.
I congratulate those of you in the U.S. for having made it through what must have seemed an interminable political process to reach the inauguration of your 44th President. For those of you who gave of your energy to the process, thank you. To me, it does not matter so much which candidate you supported as the fact that you took the opportunity to be a part of “what is happening.” For those of you who supported Mr. Obama, you are likely feeling fairly good about the results of your efforts (and many others’) on his behalf.
For those of you who supported other candidates, know that you, too, were a part of this historical transition, and that your efforts (particularly those of you who gave of your time and energy to the process) and intentions have somehow benefited both the process and the planet. Perhaps you learned the worthy truth of not being personally attached to the outcome. While it may not be consoling to be outside the winning party after the election, still, you must realize that the process (if it is to remain “democratic”) counts upon your energy and input, your beliefs and values, your participation and conviction, as well as that of those who are the winning side of any election. Even those who now celebrate victory are likely to have ample opportunity to learn about releasing attachments to outcomes in 2009.
Indeed, the entire planet is asking for your support, your participation, and your conviction at this time. And to succeed, a deeper, more conscientious, consistently abiding balance is called for in these uncertain times. At the most basic level, the balance between masculine and feminine energies has never been more important than it is today. Of course, few people truly understand this urgent need, but I can assure you it is paramount to the process of your planet at this time. Do not let yourself be fooled by the argument of some, that this is just another election, and that there is one party that wins and the other(s) all lose. Go deeper in your search to understand your time, and try to see the process from the point of view of the spiritual teachers who nurture and support the planetary process. Stretch your mental capacities far beyond the boundaries of partisan politics, and try to see with the eyes of Spirit.
It is time to re-think this matter of planetary balance, and I can assure you what is needed is more than some interpretation of “bi-partisanship.” While such is a good place to begin the journey, it is not the fulfillment of the journey. You are being called to see with new eyes, to hear with new ears, and to think with new minds. Do you believe you are up to the task? Indeed, I hope you will take confidence in the path before you, and I hope that you will be mindful of what it may mean to be a planetary citizen at this particular time. Clearly, this “new” thinking must be broader than a single political party can determine, or define.
It is time to comprehend that any partisan platform is simply too small to serve the planet now. Each of you is being called to be the leadership you wish to see in your elected officials. While some of you may not agree with the prevailing party, it is time to release petty grievances and be a part of the solution, rather than part of the problem that has for so long divided beautiful people along partisan lines. Indeed, you are bigger, vaster, and more complicated than partisan politics can hold. To use the words of Jesus: “You are the salt of the world; but if the salt has lost its savor, what good is it but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot? You are the light of the world. Of what good is a light hidden under a bucket? Rather, put the light on a pedestal, that it may light the entire room.”
While this text may be familiar, have you considered deeply what Jesus may have meant by those words? Some have perceived them as justification for generating arrogance, or a sense of righteousness for their personal belief bases. However, I do not think that is what the Master Teacher had in mind. His remarks were offered to inspire confidence (not arrogance) in a spiritual path and to support the path of all who would dare to venture into deeper understanding of what Life might be asking of them.
While it may appear to some of you that Mr. Obama is trying out for a messianic role (i.e., some version of “savior of the world”), I would like to caution you to be careful of the projections you place on him. Indeed, the outcome for the last “savior of the world” did not work out so well. Thus, be careful of what you project on to this man, for in the final analysis, he may not yet be able to transcend the archetype, and might likely get trapped in that archetype, only to have yet another “playing out” through him.
This is true of a couple of other archetypes, as well. A number of you have asked me in your personal sessions if President Obama is either a reincarnation of Abraham Lincoln or of John F. Kennedy. Perhaps you sense his karma to be a transformative leader, and the tendency is to see him in this way. However, please note that you are seeing him in the light of two Presidents who were assassinated. Is this what you really want to project upon him? For his own good, and that of both the U.S. nation and the global community, see him as Obama (not as Lincoln or Kennedy). Avoid getting caught in making conjectures as to what his Presidency will look like, nor how it should unfold.
Rather, project on him the ability to find and apply a new balance – particularly in the juxtaposition of masculine and feminine energies. As you listen to our lecture for this month, you will discover that these energies have little to do with the gender type of people expressing them. Rather, they refer to relative points along a spectrum of energy that has been sorely out of balance for a long time. See this as your means to facilitate Earth, Who has born tremendous burdens from this misalignment and imbalance. Think less in terms of Obama’s administration as being “right” or “wrong,” and think more in terms of projecting the balance you want to see in the world into his influential sphere. May he find and employ the disposition that will most advance this cause.
Take confidence in your spiritual path; live your life as if you not only hold that confidence, but as if you truly believe in the power that spiritual confidence can wield to alter the process of engagement upon this planet. With your new administration, celebrate the things you can, and in the areas that may run against your beliefs, try to demonstrate tolerance while invoking the truth to come forth. Hold an abiding respect for the problems that now confront your President, and generally project your energy toward healing opportunities to dawn upon the world as a whole.
Give thanks for, and in, all things, and learn to harvest the blessings from even the most difficult situations. Give up complaining mind, and celebrate A New Balance in your life and journey. Take faith in yourself and invite others into a region of peace, prosperity and faith. Know that those who have made Earthly spiritual pilgrimages before you now stand as your high witnesses and “cheerleaders!" Search your own hearts and minds, and find within the balance Earth is invoking. Do not expect your leaders to solve all the world’s problems. You must solve them within yourself if you want to see solutions in the world.
