'Begin by reading the Daily Thought and letting your mind explore its particular meaning for you. It is best to sit with a particular Daily Thought for at least five minutes at a time during your active contemplation, and then, mentally refer to it off and on during the rest of your day (or the following day, if you do your contemplation at night.)
As you contemplate a particular Daily Thought, try to discover levels of meaning, or different ways to interpret its meaning for you. For example, as you read a Daily Thought over and over, you may choose to move the emphasis from one word to another to grasp all the nuances the quote has for you.
Contemplation is a type of meditation in which you, as the meditator, concentrate on the Daily Thought, seeking to tease out all the meaning and nurturance it offers for you. For some, contemplation seems the most powerful when a single Daly Thought is scrutinized for several days in a row. Others prefer to take a different Daily Thought each day and then look for a composite, or umbrella-like, interpretation of the Daily Thoughts that was considered for a given week.
Whatever your preference, I hope each Daily Thought speaks deeply to you, and that you take inspiration from them. May you find comfort and nurturing for your soul, as you train your mind to "rest" in the spaciousness of these thoughts for contemplation. May goodness and wisdom be your constant spiritual companions!'
